Listen to the Raven
This series of works uses topographic maps which set the location and provide a complex mapping of the land as seen and analyzed by humans. This topography is rapidly changing due to natural disasters such as fire and flood, as well as human encroachment of natural lands. These pieces include hand carved relief engravings of animals reclaiming the landscape as they are compositionally set on top of the map, some native animals, some in reference to invasive plants, some as markers for sites both sacred and profane, and others as guardians of the land.
Artwork is 24"h x 18"w mixed media collage and relief engraving on topo map mounted on cotton rag paper. Framed in Natural Wood shadowbox frame, 24"h x 18"w.
